Welcome
Dear Alumni,
We are delighted to share Issue 7 of the SOAS World newsletter, your chance to discover inspiring stories from our community and keep up to date with the latest news from SOAS.
In this edition, you’ll meet Ilyas Khan (South Asian Studies, Class of 1983), who has returned to SOAS to pursue an MPhil/PhD in Music. His remarkable journey, which includes funding a pioneering company in quantum computing, showcases the lifelong impact of a SOAS education.
You’ll also read about SOAS’s contribution to development and climate change policies ahead of the upcoming G20 in South Africa, and hear from our Centre for Anthropology and Mental Health Research in Action (CAMHRA), which is rethinking approaches to mental health.
Be sure to explore our events and news section, and learn more about the benefits available to you as part of our alumni community.
At SOAS, we are committed to strengthening connections with alumni both near and far. From new alumni groups around the world to opportunities to gather at events on and off campus, our aim is to ensure you remain part of SOAS for life.
As SOAS alumni, you play an essential role in shaping the future of SOAS and supporting the next generation of students, whether by mentoring, sharing valuable insights from your sector, or opening doors for talented students by donating towards a scholarship.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on SOAS World so we can keep making it even better. Please share your feedback or get in touch with us any time at alumni@soas.ac.uk.
